Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
A black Mecca In my opinion is a place that has somewhat sizeable black middle class, attracts black out of towners, black businesses and power of their resources.

@murksiderock i might have to give nod to @*DalMem* about certain cities giving other ethnic groups seats on our radio station.

NYC is divided cause hot 97 is doing what LA does in hiring non blacks but power 105.1 is doing a better job at keeping its radio station black.

Other than that I will give you the nod cause LA still attracts blacks and has sizeable black middle class

@HaitianPatty where did blacks start living after Harlem got full?
Black people in Harlem historically moved to Queens, Westchester and Northern NJ because they got tired of living in apartments and row homes.

Lots of Queens was developed during the suburban boom and African Americans could get a house with a lawn and backyard without having to go back south.

But that’s when nyc housing prices were more reasonable

SMF and LAX to VA and NC
I added a poll, put the 14 locations I think have the greatest claim to being Black Meccas, with an "Other" option. Everyone take the opportunity to vote and explain your views in thread!

Also just my opinion. Black cities with lower than average crime in the black community should get noticed. Never sat well with me that DC and ATL are meccas yet always on the top 25 Murderous list. It looks very bad

There are only a relative few black-owned media companies, and that's a real issue. I'm not sure it's a better look to have black people as your frontmen (on air personalities) but the station is owned and controlled in the interests of non-black people...

I also share your opinion that violent crime rates in these cities has to be part of the conversation, because most black people do not want to live surrounded by violence. The two most recent cities I've lived in, Raleigh and Virginia Beach, are OUTSTANDING cities for black people, insofar as you can be "outstanding" in the US, in part because of the lower levels of violence in those cities compared to most, and there are large black communities in both cities (~85k pop in VB; ~125k pop in Rgh)...

I've lived in both the DC and ATL metros abd I'm taking Rgh and VB easily over the city and metro of Atlanta, no hesitation, for a variety of reasons but including Black Safety. Not as easily over the city of Washington, but I'd take both cities of Rgh abd VB over anywhere outside The District with no hesitation...

The Bronx is an extension of Manhattan a lot of people don’t know but blacks in Harlem probably just spread there.

As for Brooklyn from what I’ve been told and studied the construction of the A train brought black Americans from Harlem to Bed Stuy

yup whole radio station spanish and full of shyt for both stations lol, Big U said in LA whites/latinos control those clubs too and don't allow blacks to be employed or they act hypocritical with artists of a gang background but will allow Fivio, Lil Durk, Polo G come through even though they are in gangs (out of state) themselves. LMAO latinos show they ass when they have power don't they.
