We aren’t necessarily in the wilderness anymore and Jewish kosher rules are widespread so that we can eat without worry

Transgression of the law required these things but the gospels have said otherwise. That said even the current monks and priests eat very little meat and follow kashrut which is very similar to full kosher rules

The sins that most people talk about are really cosmetic compared to the more foundational sins like the murder of an animal to feed yourself. A wise believer says “I must preserve my grace and my dialogue with God as much as possible”

What made you know God was real?

Coming out of depression. There was a point after college where I would spend day after day depressed. I just lived with my folks and just had no job, no purpose. I would just lay in bed or sit on the computer. I was sleeping during the day and I would be up all night sitting on the computer. It's like I was stuck there. I felt like I was hell and I would say it myself. "I'm in hell" I remember called me to get saved it was like woke up out out of dream ... I head a voice as clear as day "Come to me!" that's when I knew. It just clicked. If there is a hell then there is a devil, and if there is a devil then there is a God.... I got up and got a job and went back to grad

Every person in my life who I honestly love the most believes in Jesus and won't hear nothing about Him not being real. The best people I've ever met believes in Him. (Also, the worst most scandalous people I've ever met are all up in the church, but that's another story.)

I try not to argue with anybody or change anybody's mind. Even though I'm not really living the Christian life, I can say my life is absolutely better since I believed.

Upon reflection it seems like that verse is permitting the use of plants Post-Able slaughter. I may be reaching or discovering something new but if you contrast Gen 1:29 with God’s rejection of Cain’s offering it not that God wanted a blood sacrifice as it’s often taught. Rather God wanted a first offering of grain and plants from his labor. Why do I say that? I say that because Gen 1:29 seems to give permission for humans to look at plants as honorable and worthy of consumption and also worthy of being a sacrificial offering.

But Cain was “acquired” while Abel was born

The meaning of that distinction I haven’t completely put my head around. And “the firstlings of his flock and fat thereof”

Could also be construed as semen.

Genesis is hard to interpret because it is foundational context to so many things. Such that the patterns are echoed throughout the bible

What Cain “made” is more confusing and honestly disturbing if you take into account Lamech in the same page who verbally says he slew a man to his wounding and says specifically to hearken to his speech

Some ancient ideas of the woman have to be considered to make sense of it (ie ancient Israel was polytheistic and envisioned the woman as the substance reality was on because we are born in them)

So from an ancient perspective you are always inside some woman and the spirit of god is within you internally keeping you alive despite the woman

I think it’s problematic but in the bright side god probably still reaches people even there

That doesn’t mean the gospels are properly communicated let alone hebrew and ancient Christian tradition

Highly recommend going to an orthodox service at least once just to see the difference. @Dave24 went to one and can probably explain what I mean as well
