Now watch the video before you comment and use: athletes, musicians and entertainers as a counter argument.

And I made the same points years ago:

I can only say do what’s best for you but having played the field and getting close to marrying soon, the bachelor life gets played out.

I’m not trying to scare brehs into relationships/marriage. You should play the field and get it out of your system in your 20s.

But once you get older, the value of having a quality woman is priceless. Dual income aside, a good woman is a positive reflection of yourself. It definitely opens more doors and whether you like it or not, married men garner a lot more respect. It may not be explicit but it’s definitely implied.

People are more willing to trust a married man around their children, invite them to social events and make sure they’re given more opportunities. When you’re single, people are a lot more on the fence with you.

“I’m not sure about him. Can we really trust him around our family? He may try and smash my wife/cousin/sister. This event is for families only.”

As opposed to:

“Oh invite the radiant one and his lovely wife/girlfriend. She’s such a delight. Last time she came her Mac and cheese was delicious. And the children love her.”

You definitely get excluded from alot more higher level events when you’re single. If Jay-Z was still being a bachelor since 2003, do you think he would’ve got to the level he’s at now? Or has being married made him more legitimate in the corporate world?
Now I’m not judging if you want to remain a perpetual bachelor. Just know that less doors will open for you if you do.

I’ve always said marriage in the black community would do wonders for us as whole. It increase the household income in our group and it forms a stronger community amongst each other. Like you said more people are willing to trust you if you are married and have kids. Plus it’s better for our children seeing two parents work together to give them life and instill how important a wife and husband is to the family structure. Don’t get me wrong I take my hat off to people that can be great single parents but I understand how hard that can be especially when you don’t have a strong support system. There should be a code amongst black folks to not have children if you’re not married.

didn't watch the whole thing, but i agree that having the right wife is a great social asset - - i can't speak on other countries, but in america, especially in the "upper-ranks" (c-suite corporate settings, certain government positions, high income social groups, etc.), people generally look at you sideways/don't take you as seriously if you're not married - - people perceive you in a more negative manner

the internet
this is only true in certain situations.
how many people are trying to be CEO of a public company?

but in the modern era being single wont be a hinderance...
especially in private companies.

Marriage is good because it can help some men focus...
they arent side tracked by dating and random women.

But if thats not an issue for you you'll probably do better single because you can take on more risk without worrying about another person...
or your woman wanting to go on vacation, buy a house, spend money etc...
