A lot of this is rooted in ignorance and lack of finances. If you don't have shyt, then the idea of supporting a wife and kids is scary, especially if you're not very educated. Myself and my black friends all come from a two parent household, "suburban blacks" if you will, and have none of the issues discussed here. I mentor youths that are locked up in the Harris County Juvenile Justice system, it's a rewarding experience. I'm the only black person in the program. The majority of the other people are old white men. These boys need positive black men in their lives
