If the story is true, she violated HIPPA at least, and probably some hospital rules to boot. The need for nurses is so great that, if reported, she may not get fired if it is the first offense, but it will go on her employment record.
Her refusal to do her job because of her anger reflects very poorly on her professionalism and also goes against her Nightingale Pledge oath. So she should be reported and her actions recorded. She is playing a dangerous game and placing her career in jeopardy for a drop of clout.
