I don't know much about jazz but I love Robert Glasper and Terrace Martin's work and the influence they had on TPAB.

Saw Glasper live after the first album and it was :ohlawd:. I forgot it's been three years since 3ChordFold, we need that follow up.

:blessed:

This shyt was super dope to me
:wow:

Terrace martin is that missing link for contemporary Jazz musicians and Hip-Hop music.
Dude rolls with a gang of hood dudes and thug types but can get on his sax and blow
the changes. :to:
That's so dope to me :blessed:

i am horribly concerned by the lack of matana roberts in op. like genuinely horrified.

and honestly, you can probably count flylo amongst it top current proponents. his recent stuff is barely out of step with a lot of the 80s fusion xperiments (and most of op is fusion jazz, see kamasi n christian scott who has quite a few nu-jazz flylo esque numbers n 4 whom u also appear to have missed that stretch music was released last year? Edit:oh this thread is old huh?)

oh yeah this thread is old, I was mainly incorporating acts I knew of at the time or was currently listening to.
This is an open thread though breh so if you have anyone you want to introduce the brehs to, drop a link to their music, website etc.
:myman:

If you ever get a chance to see Thundercat live DO IT.
:ohlawd:

He killed when he opened for FlyLo when they both came out here for the Your Dead tour.
I've yet to see him live, I really want to though.

w/o reading thru the thread, if no1 mentioned matana, coin coin chapters 1-3 are essential albums.

(if first 1:30 is offputting, grit n bare it)

and if this thread going beyond contemporary jazz then we need to discuss why ornette coleman's run of records with prime time in the 80s isn't repped as pinnacle level.

In general to me, it seems Ornette Coleman doesn't get as many mentions as other legendary figures despite being
legendary in his own right.

Immediately went to go and get the Coin Coin albums after I saw you mention her.
Good looks man, I'll be checking all of them out.
