The Outro was so Classic and he didn't even Rap. "Black on Both Sides" was an amazing album. Also Mos Def did a great job on his singing vocals as well. The album is Timeless and I feel Talib and Mos Dropped the Trifecta Classic Material with:

Black Star
Black on Both Sides
Reflection Eternal

I don't understand what people see in that Ms Fat Booty track :yeshrug:

But yea classic album.

Tru3 Magic is highly underrated too imo. True Magic, Undeniable, Thug Is A Drug, Crime and Medicine, A Ha, Dollar Day, Murder of a Teenage Life, Fake Bonanza - all dope tracks. There Is A Way and Lifetime aren't bad either.

Not a huge fan of his other 2 solo albums though, although both have a few good tracks.

This song isn't on youtube, but this verse :ohhh::dwillhuh::whoo::ohlawd::ooh::whew:
at least part of it anyways lol. Mos always seems like a dude who had so much potential, but he's got ADD or some shyt. He starts strong (in both his career and this song for example), but just can't finish strong.

Quick question...
You ever felt like the realest nikka alive?
Felt too pretty or powerful to die?
Tell the truth...
You ever felt ugly enough to cry?
Have you ever begged for mercy?
Have you ever wished you died?

Tell the truth...
Have you ever taken pride in the crime?
Been too hungry to break down or hide?
Felt low down dirty? Or super duper high?
Or contemplated murder, robbery, or suicide?
Tell the truth...
Taken medicine for trouble in your mind?

Or taken down a number? For taking up a scheme?
I made her wild, beautiful take her 'til she skeet?
Take her to the penthouse or take her to the skreet?
Tell the Truth...
So the waterman he take it to the beat
And I take it to the 'mic
So we takin' what we like
Take it to your neck
We gon' take it to the bank
Triple X, Killa K
Black we take it to your face
Like, G..."BANK BANK"

Being in 10th grade and having this, Dead Prez's "Let's Get Free", and Common's "Like Water For Chocolate" come out in the same year :wow:

The black militant was strong in me that year. English final exam we had to write an essay on which author had inspired us the most. Due to my new found black pantherism, I wrote "I'm not writing anything on these slave owners." History final exam was the same thing: "The imperialistic nation which is the United Snakes of Amerikkka....":russ:

Thank you mos, M1, stic.man, and Common :blessed: Damn near failed 10th grade.:damn:

It's just a dope story telling track about a situation people go through all the time; almost like you were in the room when he was telling you the story. The sample was dope, beat was good, and the lyrics took you from beginning to end. My favorite part of the song was then end

Next week, Mu hit me up, I saw Sharice at the Kittie club
With some banging ass Asian playing lay it down and lick me up
What!?

:russ:

Mos Def was the star of Rawkus. Shame how he fell off.

I wouldn't say the album is perfect (nor is it close) but about half of the tracks are stone cold classic.

"Mathematics", "Know That", "Hip Hop", "Ms Fat Booty", "New World Water", "Umi Says", "Love" & "Brooklyn"
