It's the secret, but really not so subtle problem that Coogler and Nolan have as directors of their prestige. Literally stellar at everything else, but subpar on the action.
I will defend those Waterfall fight scenes in Black Panther. That shyt was excellent. The end fight/battle was so disappointing thats it got the other action bit catching strays or forgotten.
I thought Namor's attack on Wakanda was dope.
I thought the shootout scene with Sinners was dope as well.
Coogler's problem isnt choreography. His problem is geography. He doesnt know how to really handle scale/spectacle action scenes. Its why when it was just a one on one fight he was much more comfortable there. However, at the end of BP once it called on different tribes fighting each other, Black Panther's fighting in the mines, etc etc he was not as good. He doesnt know how to map out those scenes and give you a clear sense where characters are.
I have my doubts about action scenes in BP3 because the one consensus knock on Sinners is the vampire fight was maybe the weakest element. And that was small scale.
Edit: Shuri/Namor was a pretty good fight. I think the only thing that hurts it is if you just dont buy Shuri being able to take him on.
