People seeking cac validation is really annoying. The movie was by no means Oscar worthy but I aint gonna say that in front of cacs though.
The more awards our people get means the less cacs getting...even if they didnt deserve it. fukk it, hope they sweep.

to be honest i'm mostly a black panther fan because i've been reading marvel comics since i was kid. I like seeing all their movies succeed. You can't tell me this same thread wouldn't exist if Deadpool got 7 nominations? I'm not looking at this as some validation of black people by white people. But more of a hope the comic book movies might take a more serious approach instead of being all goofy and comical.

I enjoy Black Panther as an action movie and for what it is, but it doesn't deserve Best Picture nom . Especially given the CG in some scenes and MBJ "acting".​

I've been a Black Panther stan for years, so take my opinion with a grain of salt...

But consider the cultural impact of the film, not just that it's a "superhero film".

This film's production design, story, and soundtrack has had a massive impact on Black culture, fashion, and music since it premiered. As it broke box office records, it also broke down preconceived notions of what Black people are capable of.

Nearly-all Black cast, Black director, Black costume and production designers, and even one of the exec. producers is Black. :bpwhew:

All that Black excellence produced the highest-grossing solo superhero film of all time. :bpbanderas:
