At no point would a non-black person cross my mind when choosing an avi.

That's like creating a non-black person as a created player in a video game.

It should be a natural instinct to have "blackness" represent you if its not your actual self.

Sounds generational. Those not raised on social media are not putting that much thought into an avatar. Half my avatars dont even have people in them.
