This definitely happened. It happened to me more in middle school than in high school, by the time I got to high school I was essentially segregated from other black students. I took PE/gym early in the morning before school started, took all honors and AP classes. Definitely got a few black people trying to clown me when they saw me during lunch or waiting for the bus, but I literally didn't give a fukk. I was a big deal in my school for my academic prowess so a few haters didn't really matter.

Depends on the school and the region. At some of my schools you would definitely be roasted for reading well or answering a class question correctly.

The illiterates were actually held in high regard because they had physical offsets. Good looks for females or athletics for males.

You basically had to be an academic ninja, where your book scores would be good but you couldnt admit to it or appear to be smart. I actually ended up hating English class at one point because the teacher was a 70 year old white lady who knew my grades, but tried to get me to be some sort of ambassador to my peers. And i wanted no part of it whatsoever.

The part I bolded is sad but true. I think being a FOB African made it easier for me ignore the noise. I was more focused on crushing everyone and going to a top 10 university than being viewed as cool. I embraced that shyt, I was on every academic team, always getting my name announced for kicking ass at different competitions. By the end of junior year the black guys definitely had more of a respect/admiration for me, the black girls were trying to clown me nonstop, the PAWGs and PAAGs wanted to hangout and have endless philosophical conversations. There were lot of chatter from teachers and parents wondering "will capt_saveahoe go to Harvard, Yale or Princeton?" Good old days.

I hope/wish more black people reach their academic potential. it turns out able to contribute meaningfully to society and making a boatload of money in the process is pretty cool.

-Can't agree with this shyt because growing up in the 80's around street brehs I've literally witnessed the shyt myself. I've seen brehs pick on "nerd" brehs to look cool in front of females & other street brehs. People got clowned for "using big words" & "trying to sound smart" often. It wasn't every street breh but the shyt happened.

-As far as the criminal records, that shyt happened too. I didn't get my first charge until I was 18 & before that brehs would always say smart shyt about my clean record. I just told their dumb asses my record was clean cause I wasn't stupid & getting caught like them. Brehs acted like if you didn't have a record you hadn't done anything.

Which has nothing to do with being educated or smart..... Everyone likes to act dumb when we know "talking white" is exactly that. A Black person imitating an unnatural Valley girl/surfer dude white inflection in their voice.
No it is not. Hell, white people clown you for “sounding white”. They’re not clowning you for communicating well but for speaking like a stiff along with the inflection of your voice.
You dudes are revealing more about yourselves in this thread
-This shyt isn't true. I've brought up people saying I talked white when I was younger on here before & it wasn't the inflection of my voice or actually sounding white. They literally said it because I was articulate & had a better vocabulary from reading. I told those dumbasses I don't talk white, I talk like I have an education.

I've never seen any kid get bullied for having good grades. Matter fact, most of the popular kids had good grades. Being a dummy wasn't cool lol. I did graduate high school in the early 2010s though.

Letting a dumb kid persuade you to underperform under the guise of "peer pressure" makes no sense

FBA are for the most part naturals at entertainment. Comedy being one of those aspects. We can clown you for anything we can turn your positives into negatives we're so adept. Now this happens with any and everyone, if you got clowned for being smart, take it for just that.. Clowning...

I could clown you for owning nothing but Jordan sneakers,
for wearing expensive suits,
for being well groomed..

My FBA already know this so I'm talking to my migrants and whites
do they though? because there are many Black American Men who echo the same sentiment of not belonging due to being “clowned” on for their interests or things they couldn’t control

The brainiacs had more options and were always going places..anybody mad at them was jealous and knew their own life was a dead end :manny:

Harassing the smart kids is a clear sign you're in a dead crab in the barrell society..:camby:

Yep, early 2004 was the legit TURNING POINT of black culture, in terms of overall attitudes of academia and fashion. By then, I was already preparing for my HS graduation and pre packing my stuff to go away at my dorm for that upcoming Fall.

By then, for my graduating class, the damage has already been done. Some less fortunate brehs who never took academics seriously were traumatized and faced the harsh reality that they were lied to by their peers, popular rap prior to 2004, and bytches.

Yeah 20 years later, Kanye lost his mind….

Fall 2004, I went to The real HU in DC and was at Drew Hall :myman:

It was a real turning point and a culture shock when more brehs dressed like Kanye with the Polo vests and fitted jeans and casual shoes (not sneakers) that I was forced to adjust my wardrobe and had to dead a lot of my baggy clothes.

From 2004 to 2006, I saw the whole transformation of fashion and how baggy clothes died out in all non hood black social scenes.
