Mary J brought absolutely nothin to the table on Stay With Me, Schoolboy Q ruined Latch and a rap feature (Asap Rocky) sounds stupid on his newest song Im Not the Only One. Black radio either needs to play the OG versions or dont play it at all. Stop with these forced collabs simply for an excuse to play it on urban radio

How is he ruining anything:what:. HIS music has more soul and emotion than anything on black radio. Let me guess, "these hoes aint loyal" is your standard for black music

There is no soul in that man's music.

Plus, he's gay and I KNOW how much you Coli knee grows hate that.

there are better black soul artist out there than Sam Smith that actually have soul. But the radio aren't pushing for black soul artists, but let a white person with "soul" get whiffed from the general public, they gonna be the greatest thing since James Brown.

And just because I don't fukk with Sam Smith, that means I like "these hoes ain't loyal"?:snoop:

I wouldn't say that "Stay With Me" has no soul. I first heard the song and didn't know who he was. It kind of sounded like a new Tank song to me. I was shocked when I seen Sam Smith perform the song live.

That said, I don't think Mary J. Blige ruined the song at all.

:camby:with crying about Black people ruining this song though. I can name more legendary songs by Black artists that have been ruined with horrible covers by White artists though. At least Sam Smith doesn't get completely axed from his song and completely get replaced by a Black artist so that the song crosses over. Meanwhile, Chuck Berry and Little Richard both had their songs covered by White artists and were completely erased from the song.

Rocky is the best part of Not The Only One though and Schoolboy Q just sucks in general. I don't get the big deal about Sam Smith. If Frank Ocean hadn't vanished I don't think Sam Smith would be popular. Guys like Labrinth and Mr. Probz just to name a few are way more talented and soulful singers.

A$AP Rocky's verse is legitly the best verse that he's ever dropped IMO, & even if he's not exactly on topic it adds a level to the song.

don't fukk with recent Mary J at all.

There's a recurring theme with your types.
First it's Black modern music isn't all that appealing.
Next you go on to venerating white artists.
Then it's there is no black person making music
as good as said artist.

He would have made it either way, hes from the Uk, Frank Ocean is of no concern to him.

And Labrinth is crazy talented, but he falls into the trap of making pop music mostly, black soul/rnb singers don't get pushed in the UK, there hasn't been one with a push since Craig David or Lemar over 10 years ago.

Emeli Sande has been pretty successful in the UK.

Black Soul/R&B singers don't get much of a push anywhere. The biggest R&B singers of late is Adele, Sam Smith, Robin Thicke & Justin Timberlake. Frank Ocean should of been huge and still could be. Soul just isn't that big of a genre. If Frank Ocean or Adele had released something in late 2013/early 2014, I don't think America would of cared about Sam Smith. Latch probably would of still been a hit, but thats about it. Labrinth and Emeli Sande didn't make it in America, but Sam Smith did. I just don't get it but maybe that's because I like the UK scene better than America's. Hopefully Mr. Probz will have continued success after Waves, whether he focuses on Soul or Rap.
