Once the media and celebrities embrace something, it just doesn't feel right like they are trivializing it in a way.
I just thought about how good it would feel to be Gucci Mane right now where... no matter what you do it's always the blackest shyt ever.

One of the biggest/beloved rappers in the south, a dude people actually respect. hasn't said a word about any of this and never does, in an era where we shyt on celebrities for keeping quiet, and shyt on them for speaking up, but we some how manage to stay off that dude like indians stay off soap.

How do I be Gucci brehs..

Don't really see it as much now as I saw it when I was growing up in the Bronx in the 90's. Back then people were on that afrocentric flow heavy and almost everybody was rocking an ankh, African clothing, afros and going to lectures. The music reflected the time, the movies had pro-black themes, and celebs weren't afraid to speak up. Today, so much of it seems contrived and pretentious.

Im not sure but Don is a known c00n. But I think he is riding the wave. That is why I feel uneasy about all these celebrities who were excusing white people for killing black people last year to now this year they are going hard in the paint.
Don was getting a bit pro-black during the ferguson protests...and I guess CNN told him to chill with the pro black talk or find his gay ass another job.

I remember that era of hiphop and black culture in the 90s as well. It seemed genuine. This era is all about being pro black while having sex/dating/marrying/procreating with white people and contiuning fighting for integration/inclusion into American society instead of building our own institutions to benefit us.

Lets be honest. The more as time goes by and we feel we've been accepted as Americans (something that will NEVER happen) the more we lose our identity. We dont think African...we think American. African Americans have bought into the white mans lies about Africa and disassociate with it completely....but I see change coming.

This country is not for black people. It caters to whites and Eurocentrism. Which is the polar opposite of Afrocentrism.

Also...another thing...the flow of Afrocentrism was interrupted/disrupted by European colonialism and slavery....so now we're building up this new era of Afrocentrism using white technology and money....thats why whites is scared. Black Americans have progressed probably more then any other group of black people in the world.

They know they cant compete with us...so they fukk up the game and the system to make them seem better and so they win when really they cant compete with us when its our rules and its on an even playing field.

Funny as it's kept, alot of modern black culture is based on taking things from the 90's and putting a modern spin on it. You always see something inspired by 90's music, 90's fashion, and 90's films. And a big part of that is because so many people are out of touch with their blackness and are searching for their identity in it's purest form wherever they can find it. And for many of them, it's the 90's.

Even though people may embrace black culture now more than they have before, it hasn't stopped white supremacy from becoming more sophisticated. And It hasn't stopped the state sanctioned murders of black men, black women, and children. What I've found is that we've put white people on an even bigger pedestal more than ever because we've allowed them total access in our culture, total access in our relationships, and we've given them total access in how we view ourselves. White worship is at an all time high in my opinion, and alot of people care more for white acceptance than they do building relationships with their own people.

Alot of people care more about what they can take from black people than what they can contribute to our community.

At the beginning of mean streets
Watch breh...I already said it in my other thread...

they gonna try to connect pro-blackness to anti-police, anti-americanism, and terrorism to further criminalize us and make the job of the race soldiers easier.

:mjpls:

They been connecting it to anti-police. That's what cointelpro was about; FBI killing police officers and then pinning it on black revolutionaries.

There has *clearly* been a rise in consciousness over the past 2 or 3 years. Lord knows where it's all going.

What I personally am *dying* for is for SOMEONE to get the ball rolling on things like economics and politics.

I noticed that during the Gurley/Liang shyt that was going down in NY, there actually was *some* movement on boycotting Asian businesses in NY...but people jumped on it QUICKLY with "Why punish store-owners who may not have even supported Liang"....non-blacks were shook. People clearly didn't want to hear that talk. I noticed that even the *nature* of the responses to that were different. Like usually, anti-blacks just go back to the same tool-shed of low-education, lowest common denominator type of arguments with us ala "what about black on black crime?" But people were taking that boycott shyt more seriously...

We need to find that place again, only this time on a national scale.

Also, it's time for more centralization. BLM did well by drawing attention to some issues but I think that most of us know by now that they are going to be "the one". I believe this is in part because they are *too* millennial in their ways. . They have weak organizational structure. Weak leadership structure. Too eager to look for "allies" instead of looking inward. Too online/social media focused. Hell, even things like....they dress in casual clothing and look like shyt half the time (Has anyone seen Deray? Why is he trying to make that blue vest a "thing"?)

And they completely dropped the ball by not endorsing a presidential candidate.

The next movement needs to be more financial, more political, more professional, more proactive and more serious!

Most importantly...it needs to be completely funded and controlled by blacks.

But yeah...black consciousness is on the rise, I agree OP.

Black consciousness has been on a steep incline since the Trayvon incident. None of us will be alive to see this so-called "change" but these past few years will be looked upon as the spark that ignited the flame.

Its gonna take generations for change to come to fruition.
