Def one of the best sequel albums just under Cuban linx 2. Realness 2 sucked so did doe or die 2

Moms da word :banderas: bangs way too hard. Ddot showed em how to use 808s properly. Beat is too crisp and fire

Ain’t the devil happy sample :banderas: Done properly and done right in newer more recent modern way.

you ain't trippin, i was contemplating over the weekend whether this was better than part 1, because this here feels like a complete coherent album and the first one had a couple of joints that fell short a bit. Might be the first time that an artist's best work happens after he passes :hubie:
I think this is more consistent than the first. As a whole no bullshyt this is better. Although if we were to compare the best tracks on the 2 albums I would say life story 1 had the better ones I think. This is better than part 1 as a whole.

U can hear how Kanye's early years sound came out of the ddot mentorship in this joint. Ye got his own style but heavily influenced by his the NY sound here with DDot sampling, selection of instruments sounding crisp. This is reminiscent of the crazy cat / mad rapper album sound but perfected and 10 times better w Robbio on it throughout blending in w each track.

Some of the joints "different hustle different struggle" give a coke wave vibe that French was on. Some other joints w the saxophones gives an American Gangster Jayz vibe that the hitmen did as well.

The piano loops and hard bass lines worked well especially the joint w black thought it's gritty, imagine Kiss ripping that one.

If this has Puff as exec producer and he added a "whoa" type smash to it, definitely would have topped life story 1.

Life story 1 goes down in history as one of the best debuts, one of the best releases on badboy and in 2000. Hard to top that body of work but agree this part 2 seems like an evolution of part 1 both sonically and rob's content being locked up for 4 years, he had a lot of time to think about what he wanted to say and how.

Life story 1 has Puff's executive direction, the guests were solid too and the flow of the album / sequencing. Rob arguably saved Badboy during a time when the streets were supporting the Roc and the Lox leaving for Ruff Ryders, there was a lot riding on Rob and he delivered.

Surprisingly great album..i think this is the type of music iam missing

agree on all points here:
After not hearing the hitmen on mainstream radio or with current acts it's refreshing to hear that sound in 2023, its definitively missing from the game. What Deric DDOT Angelettie, Buckwild and Yogi did on this album was build the baseline foundation for that classic sound that BR pollinated. What Stevie J, Mario Winans and Puff pulled off on the Love album is another example.

That represents only 6 of the hitmen if Puff pulled the crew together damn they could pump some solid hits but would it get the airplay in this era is the question.
