Lets try to put aside the entertainment industry's agendas and Kevin Hart hating.

Instead, lets be positive and share lesser known comedians with each other.

Maybe we can brighten each other's day with laughs

Ill start this off with Hannibal Buress

The three greate black standups of all time:

1) Richard Pryor, the godfather of black comedy

2) Redd Foxx, the first black sitcom star in history

3)Robin Harris, died waaaaaay too young and was brilliant

HONORABLE MENTION: The Historic dikk Gregory, the mechanic behind black comedy...give props to these geniuses

It's been years... probably around half a decade since the last time i actually thoroughly enjoyed a standup comedy set/special and laughed my ass off the whole way thru. Standup is :flabbynsick: as a form of comedic entertainment. And i don't see that changing anytime soon.

I can definately see what you're saying. The Internet is changing everything about us. Everything from the way we process information and read, to what we find comical this day in age.

I don't think stand up is flabby though. In essence, it's observing society and telling stories in a humorous way.

I have to thank a lot of insightful comedians for expanding my view on the world
Paul Mooney's racist ass
George Carlin, of course
Even Chappelle

I'm kinda sad at how "dead" the black standup scene is. From the 60's/70's to the GOAT 90's/00's where def comedy jam, comic view, etc spurred TV and movie stars to now, shyt fell off. I still hit random spots and enjoy the form, I just wish it was on a bigger platform like it was 10-20 years ago.

You can say that about a lot of things in our culture right now.

I got into this heated argument with my cousin about comedy. (Hopefully Im not derailing this into a race thing lol)

I basically said I didn't like Katt Williams because he dumbs his material too much for his audience. Im like "Why does he have to dumb his shyt down to appeal to black people?"

I also pointed out how a lot of these comedians compare blacks and whites often. That whole bit is terribly overused & flabby.

Yea, I've been on record saying time and time again, black entertainment, especially if it's geared for black audiences, is dead. Movies, TV, music, comedy, all dead. I don't read much anymore, but do we even have any new notable black authors?
