I'm conflicted about this video.
On the one hand, the students are expressing a legitimate grievance and i'm glad they're woke to the racial dynamics that underpin social institutions. But on the other hand, their methods reek of millennial entitlement. If you're actually looking to amend the systems within which you operate, you have to at least be open to dialog. The white VP wasn't belligerent, so I see no reason for the students to respond to her in that manner. If they're just looking to vent some shyt off their chests, that's perfectly fine, but it's not activism. And more and more i'm seeing this venting method being promoted as legitimate activism. If you believe that the time for dialog has passed, then burn the place down, don't pretend like you're working towards some common ground. Lotta people just playing revolutionary. It's easy to sit in some white woman's office and yell at her for 9 minutes. It's difficult to be open to her perspective and work within the system to bring about the changes you desire.
