Turnout was down among democrat voters broadly and it was still a razor thin margin victory for Trump if we are talking overall numbers. The problem was Kamala's shift from a populist message specifically the anti-gouging measures and her refusal to separate herself from Biden on anything especially gaza.
This wasn't a issue that people were told not to vote it's people got pissed that the person they wanted to win wasn't providing a vision of what she wanted for the people and they said f*** it. To put it more succinctly you aren't owed votes you have to earn them.
If they said fukk it how did they not know this would be the outcome?

I think for a decent amount of people they felt the principle of anti-genocide was more important which I can't fault them on that sentiment even if it's not the most pragmatic.
The system in the UK is a little more conducive to getting politicians to do what they want but from what I've seen you've got some real problems there too with the labor party becoming much more centrist and throwing people in jail over alleged antisemitsm and protesting.

Never mind, you're right. I was about to argue but, the math doesn't check out
White women didn't shift the election as much (47/51 split), but there were too many White men going red to overcome (60/40 split).
Even if all minorities went blue to make up for the 4 percent deficit from white women, it's not enough to overcome the 20 percent deficit from the males.
