This is why I feel so bad for Nate Parker because he was trying to buck the system. Since we only win awards for slave roles, he wanted to make a slave movie but instead of the white masters being in control, the slaves were in control. Flipped the script on them and hollywood wasn't having that.

I rewatched Malcolm X the other week, Denzel's acting was the best by any American actor since Al Pacino and Marlon Brando in the Godfathers. Nobody even fukking remembers that crazy Pacino performance from Scent of a Woman, but okay we'll say that they snubbed Denzel to give Al an award he shouldve won in the 70s.
But to snub Denzel again for Hurricane Carter, then reward him for playing a goon of a cop a decade later?
