LAS VEGAS -- Activists chanting "Black Lives Matter" ended Jeb Bush's town hall event in North Las Vegas Wednesday night as the former governor wrapped up a question and answer session.
Bush met privately with members of the Black Lives Matter movement prior to the scheduled town hall, according to his campaign, although they would not confirm if the activists who interrupted Bush were the same activists he had met with.
In response to a question about racial injustice earlier in the event, Bush said, "We have serious problems and these problems have gotten worse in the last few years. Communities, people no longer trust the basic institutions in our society that they need to trust to create, to make things work."
The activists pushed back at Bush, asking how he personally relates to the issue.
Wednesday's confrontation is not the first time Bush has found himself on defense with Black Lives Matter activists after he referred to the movement as a slogan last month in New Hampshire.



Bush's campaign is quick to point out that the governor is focused on uniting all Americans and he has committed to having open and candid conversations with all voters.
In Las Vegas, Bush said, "The best way to solve these problems are the way that I believe Charleston solved it, rather than communities that where there was denial that there was not a serious problem."
Black Lives Matter activists have also interrupted other candidates' events recently, including Democratic contender Senator Bernie Sanders.

Shouldn't this be said to abortion clinics that kills several thousand black lives every year? The slogan "Black lives matter" can't be taken seriously mainly due to the thousands of black lives taken everday either by abortion or street violence.

If the people who repeat this slogan really cared about black lives, then they would be just as outraged at the abortion rate along with the senseless violence that destabilizes our community.

Where's the alternative? Can't complain about the actions of these groups unless others are willing to provide an alternative. I'm very glad they disrupted Jeb's campaign. Should follow suit with ANY politician that will not have a townhall meeting with them to talk about these issues.

With Bernie they showed up unannounced and shouted over him. With Hillary they contacted her campaign first to tell them they were coming. Arrived wearing BLM shirts and were asked to not enter. They peacefully obliged.

Then after the rally met with Hillary but no media or cameras were there. :usure:



They know not to bite they hand that feeds them :usure:

Something definitely needs to be done. Doing something is not the same as running off at the mouth half cocked. So my question would be: what is this accomplishing? It does serve the purpose of making us unwelcome to these types of events, so if that's the only outcome we may need to find better ways to communicate.

Doing something would be like: boycotting something. Outfitting young blacks at risk with their own body cameras that recorded to the cloud. Organizing legal help for people in jail unfairly. Curculating a petition of some sort.

Yelling on camera can be useful. Maybe. It can also be offputting. If we want to communicate, we need to do so in a way that can be recieved.
