While this is a harsh way of putting it lol, I am always reminded of folks that jumped on The Cosby Show when it came out....saying that an educated black family with educated children wasn't black enough and that the show allowed whites to say that racism wasn't a factor in blacks not excelling. Yes that really happened. smh
You can't use the media as a gauge for a number of reasons. One has already been touched on, we don't own much media. The media that we do own will cater to what we as a whole will watch, ie hood movies, romantic comedies and 'reality' shows that reflect the former in some form or other. I remember Spike Lee complaining about this too. Folks say they want better representation media wise but aren't willing to support this better representation en masse. It's amazing how powerful the brainwashing is in regards to our media image. See what I just typed about the Cosby Show.
Finally, negative images always sell better. It's like some sick truth that the media has accepted in full. That's why yellow journalism is rampant these days.
Lastly, the media is the only representation that many whites have of black people outside of work. Look back over what I've just typed, put it all together and you can understand where those comments come from. Unless you are actively adding to this imagery yourself, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

I would wonder why and look at history and facts to see.

They have access to books and information that shows how their ancestors set the stage for things to be like this and can easily see how their fellow whites keep things like this to make it hard for blacks to succeed yet they refuse to like a bunch of stupid idiots
Lets be real here, you're in the minority if thats the case. Dont get me wrong, we're hated world wide primarily because of our race but in America, we have done absolutely nothing to better race relations with other people nor have we done much of anything to improve our own communities.
People dont care about the "why".They just care about what they can see and they see blacks acting like complete degenerates in a lot of aspects of life. They see blacks ruining most American cities. They see harmful diseases in their countries that originated from black nations. They see black men being so desperate for any non-black women. I can understand a bit why some white Americans dont like us. We've done nothing to make them think any higher of us.

Dude white people are either stupid and following the herd or are pretending not to care or understand so they dont fix what their ancestors did.
Everytime we come up with a solution be it reparations they shut it down.
Many dont want us to succeed and would rather we leave the US or kill us off.

Black people who are doing these bad things, and where these black on black crime statistics come from, are those in the poor areas.
Black people in the well off areas are doing just fine.
