I went to Phuket twice in the late 90s when I was in the Navy, and was literally treated like a God on Earth

I remember going to the bar on the beach for the 1st time

The old heads told us how it was before we got there, but you don't believe it until you see it

When you get to the bar, the system was they had a group of chicks who's job was to take care of the Americans during their visit, so when you sit down, the bar girls start posturing for attention, you pick one, and she's pretty much your interpreter, servant, tour guide for the whole time you're there, for like 5 bucks a day.

The whole time you're at the bar they get your drinks, sit quietly beside you (or on your lap), wipe your sweat, order your food, the whole nine.

Then if you want her to hang around when you bounce, she shows you all the great, cheap 4-5 star restaurants, takes you to the kickboxing matches, shows you the best bungalows to rent, and will stay with you and fukk all night if that's your thing.

Hell I've noticed this in Africa myself. Even though I'm Somali, my accent got me treated much different than Somalis from Somalia throughout East and Southern Africa.

Same for black Americans working in Africa, they'll tell you the same thing. It has to do with economic privilege for sure. You're considered well-off or potentially well-off enough to interact with elites based on being a Western passport holder.

Almost everywhere I been I was treated with respect, reverence and even some measure of "magical negro-ness" because I am African-American...some of these SAME places can't stand African immigrants.

I wouldn't blame this situation on white supremacy though This is nothing more than a combination of familiarity/lack of familiarity, self selection on the emigrant/tourist type w/ some popular culture/mainstream influences playing a part.

Just came back from Asia 2 weeks ago. spent a month in Shanghai , Seoul and Phuket. yes AAs are treated better, why, because when we go we are tourists. Africans in Asia are living there and doing lower class type jobs in the entertainment industry.
