What's interesting about this is after the riots many of the residents and business owners rebuilt and restored their property. That's not something that is talked about. Though it wasnt the same after the riot, it didnt stop them from standing up and reclaiming what was theirs.

If there is anythng to take from this is we cant be cowards and let people who dont look like us dictate our destiny economically. The Arabs and Koreans defintely dont. We have to start becoming more business minded, not depending on a biweekly paycheck, lining up for the new Iphone and the new J's.

Us shining individually is great symbolically, but it wont help us get out of this mess we are in. Collectively.....under one agenda (pipe dream - I know) we'd be on our way to where we need to be.

The internet is so wide open right now that I feel that it's an ideal starting point to become wealthy. Then come back to the hood, build schools, grocery stores, transpo systems, distribution channels, banks, etc. We rep our cities so hard and dont even own them.

Lack of unity on point. There are but a few black businesses in Oakland. And I'm talking strictly barbershops and soul food eateries. And those come and go. Asians, white, Hispanic, etc all have a slice of Oakland, and while oakland is being gentrified, these negroes are constantly driving the property value deeper and deeper into the ground. :mindblown:

I initially ignored this thread because of the title, but I am happy it wasn't what I expected. There are people who do not believe in structural inequality. Those people are willfully ignorant.

Great thread. We have to overcome so much. Too many of us are not aware of whats going on. If you are an successful black person you should try to do something to uplift your people. I'm not just talking money, but time. To to the kids in a community center or something. The next generation must know the truth about our history, and we must turn around our current situation.
