Yeah he's done some seriously stupid shyt. In this instance the defense is more about the nature of the complaint and everything and everyone surrounding it. Looking at the lady who made the original comment's instagram, she comes across as one of those "everything is problematic" people. Boondocks is problematic, them getting rid of Namor's black girlfriend (and linking her up with some black guy) is concerning, and all that. A lot of her concerns about black female representation seems to be concerns about there not being enough black female representation (there is), especially as love interests for the main character (there is as well but they aren't permanent enough for her). A lot of her premises are constant exercises in goal-post moving and using that as the basis of her critique. Nothing is ever good enough and all that and when it is, it will be bad and they will claim it is the fault of people being unenlightened and misogynistic.

Basically, they both suck but one is less annoying than the other two who suck.
