I dont think blacks who hate being black is an exclusively american thing at all. Its rampant in countries with communities who have a minor or major amount of european or semite blood like black brazilians, black sudanese, black dominicans, cape verdeans, ... For a large part its due to the stigma they have on them in their societies for being slave descendants. They be doing everything they can to cling on that little 10 or 20% white blood they have. In the USA this is prevented by the one drop rule which is not existing there.
I agree. There are a lot of brainwashed people in the diaspora. Canada doesn't have a history of slavery so it's a more healthy environment to grow up in for blacks.
The light-skin dark-skin thing for example was completely foreign to me growing up and still weirds me out to this day. I'm not saying there aren't color struck or self hating blacks but it's definitely not the norm and not common at all where I come from.
