The environment and the media plays a significant role on how the noir views himself/herself.
In the U.S., negative images are constantly aired and folks are conditioned to view with disdain and contempt when in reality, total opposite. It's a insecure projection from Anglo Saxons who make up the majority. However, certain noirs eat this up and spread the ignorance like a viral infection. These are called "agents".
In Canada, it's basically "neutral" because the environment is more tolerant and cross-cultural. Though, Alberta symbolizes red-neck U.S.
In a majority of Asian countries, it's the same view as the states because Anglo Saxon supremacy is global.
In certain European countries, there's a lot of emphasis on ethnicity/nationality. However, race is not disclosed but it's very subtle. The U.S. is very overt and aggressive with violence.
In conclusion, these views of self-hatred weren't natural but were fed by those of fear and jealousy. There's no need to fear or hate being "negro"/"negra"/noir/black, etc. How you view yourself makes a big difference.
