Numbers just came in, 10 Day Total:

Blade Runner: 2049
Total Lifetime Grosses
Domestic: $60,578,387 38.2%
+ Foreign: $98,000,000 61.8%
= Worldwide: $158,578,387

Looking like 275-300 Million Worldwide which is about what "Mad Max: Fury Road" made. Domestic obviously isn't going to be that great, the goal is over 100 Million but it's going to crawl to get there. Again it's a long movie so that will always effect repeat viewings.

I don't follow these things. Is this good enough for a sequel?

It has no chance at 100 mil domestic. At this rate it'll make 6 or 7 mil next weekend and then fall off a cliff after that.

It has to hope for some international legs, but thor ragnarok is releasing in 9 days internationally so...

Hopefully this means I'll have the 4K Bluray in my hands before Christmas :banderas:

Unfortunately no. Which sucks because it's honestly a good movie, but it probably doesn't need a sequel tbh. Probably didn't even need this sequel but thank the heavens we got it.

2049 whet my appetite for some sort of closure to the story though. I'd have been fine if 2049 never existed, but since it does, I want one more. Badly. Hopefully it happens.

I think a 3rd Blade Runner could happen, in my review I talk about it and how it could actually have more action than the first 2. They are going to have to wait some years but I'd love Dennis and Ryan to come back and finish the trilogy. I think Deckard story is over though plus Harrison is getting way up there. The thing about sequels are box office doesn't always 100% determine if it happens or not. The First "Blade Runner" Flopped yet we got a sequel decades later. Sometimes the studio banks on other revenue sources. The Blade Runner world is vast so if not a sequel, maybe an Anime (Blade Runner: 2022 was dope) or television series but I don't think it should end here.

Is this movie really that good? White boys been hyping this shyt up as a classic

Went last night and it's funny you posted this cuz now that I think about it, I was the only Black person in the theater. I thought it was a good flick, definitely a worthy follow up to the original film. While it has it's moments of action and explosives, along with stunning visuals, it's not a popcorn flick by any means. Definitely not a comic book film, or a typical action film. It falls more under the umbrella of drama, psychological, crime, etc., under a dystopian science fiction backdrop. While it's a long film, it's very engaging. I had a few brews on an empty stomach before going in and had to piss in the worst way but refused to run to the stall for fear of missing something. Good flick overall.

My only complaint is I wish there was more of Jared Leto's character. He left an impression.
