That's what I'm sayin'...the quincies are scared of Bankai so they medallion snatch 'em and they're worried about Ichigo because he can't have his bankai absorbed. Soul Society is begging for dude to get there and save them. Meanwhile, there's a monster who just looks for tough opponents and has Bankai power without actually using bankai just chillin' somewhere in soul society already...just toss the eye patch and go to town. Dude would be way too eager to fight these cats to just relax this long too.
