That way you can actually see your contribution in action. Be it helping to build a house, or serving in a soup kitchen, or volunteering to help clean up graffiti. Most "legitimate" charitable organizations are corrupt as phuk, with administrative costs eating up a chunk of the donations.

Funneling money raised off the backs of dead Black men to LGTBQ organizations ran by their friends

I think a lot of people don't understand how non-profits work. If you can sell a mission/story people give you money. If you structure the organization where your people/family are being a paid a salary, then it is what it is.
I'm in the process of starting up a family/community based non-profit with my family, and after you figure out what the mission statement is and who we're trying to serve, the next pivot is to... how do we pay ourselves for doing the work.

I disagree. If I have the skillset to perform the service and I have the documentation and paperwork for my business, why the fukk wouldn't I pay myself or my people to execute the job?
