I think their problem is that "black", in this instance, doesn't extent to black women or black members of the LGBT community. If you're not willing to stand up when black women or our black LGBT brothers and sisters are being discriminated against and harassed, then "loving black and living black" only applies if you're a member of a certain subset of the black community; the definition of privilege. Acknowledging this doesn't erase black men.

Just as I thought. I was dealing with a white supremacist whore. This past month I've been running into these types of chicks at clubs/bars. I live in a area that mostly rich white folks and Hispanics. Pretty much no contact with black folks unless I go to Tampa or Miami. Not very. The predominant stereotype for Black males is that we're threatening because we're animalistic, hyper-aggressive, highly sexualized. A stereotypically effeminate gay man negates many of those threats (although they're also considered highly sexualized, but in a different way). But they face a host of other social and legal hurdles that straight black men do not. If we refuse to acknowledge this, then the gains made by any pro-black movement will necessarily exclude issues faced by a portion of the black community. This is the point of intersectional studies. BLM leading the Pride Parade is an attempt to make sure we don't forget the struggles faced by certain members of our community. I think that statement was badly worded, but as far as I can tell, no one is proposing stopping efforts aimed at alleviating the struggles faced by heterosexual black men in favour of these efforts. It's only a zero sum game if you believe gay blacks are not a part of the black community, or that promoting tolerance of LGBT individuals is somehow destructive to the black community.
