Played the first three games which are all tutorial but aren't the clearest about what's going on (I was toe up though, so that may have contributed to the confusion). Here are some initial feelings,

. The first two games were ridiculously easy and the third game had an overpowering opponent with a dumbass AI so I won in spite of getting mopped. After the first two, I was worried that it was way too simple but game three introduced some strategy elements. Grouping players is crucial, especially when you're going against stronger opponents. That said, with limited experience and strategies, it's mainly come down to either my team have a clear advantage or dumb AI giving a game away. So far, I haven't had a case where implementing my strategy was the game changer that gave me an edge...but it's early.

. The gameplay is extremely simple, this isn't even remotely a football game. You move around the map in a way that's reminiscent of X-Com with movement limitations. Every move comes down to a dice roll, so dodging an opponent's tackle attempt might give you a 67% chance to succeed, but dodging two guys could drop those odds to 50% or less. Taking a player head on comes down to your player rating, so with a stronger character you get two dice rolls and a choice for which result you would want; you knock the opponent down, he knocks you down, you both knock each other down or you knock the opponent back but he stays on his feet. Knock downs really equate to taking away that guys chance to act in his next turn so it can be devastating and game changing. The percentage odds get a bit annoying though because EVERYTHING comes down to a dice roll. Picking up the ball can be an effort in futility. You only get one pass per turn and the odds of completion are 2/3's in the best case scenario (remember it's early, so I might be able to get better players who make the odds better but time will tell) which really isn't great. That limit is exacerbated when a defender is anywhere near either player involved making things difficult. So far I see blocking and running as way easier to score with, which limits my use of many strategies at least in this early bit.

. Limited resources means I haven't had much chance to buy players or upgrades, I'm still unlocking all purchase options. That means customizing my squad hasn't hit home yet, I'll update on it but you can edit your players appearances and names if you're into that sorta thing.

. After all of that which is pretty discouraging, I actually am eager to go back and get further. For a simplified game, it has nuances that could expand if the game's upgrading and customizations work correctly. The games themselves feel a bit long since I'm a beginner, but they're surprisingly fun so far (though if things don't shift it could easily become repetitive). Campaign is pretty linear and not a season play like a sports game, which makes sense since this is turn based strategy and not a sports game at all. I feel like the online mode has potential to be amazing. There's an addictive element to this ish, I want to unlock more and find out how I can make my team fit my style of play. I want to expand my strategy options with better passers and blitzers (essentially O-line men who open your lanes). So right now, I'm banking on the game expanding with upgrades and I have a feeling that when I'm comfortable enough to go online that I'll be giving this a lot of burn. It's surprisingly addictive. I played two games and figured I'd take a break but sat through a third game (they take some time like I said) just to see what else I could unlock.

So far 6/10 with potential to be an 8/10 as I get along in it. I think it's gonna end up a 6.5 or 7/10 by the time I'm done even if they don't execute perfectly. So That's really solid. This ain't mutant league future though. It's X-com-lite meets football with a monster skin layered on. Worth a look if you like strategy games even off initial rocking, though I'm counting on the challenge level increasing exponentially as a serious SRPG and RPG guy.
