You can't go to another country and try to dominate the sport without understanding its politics and financial structures (cap). The whole arguement for the success of the Nets was that he could spend a lot of money. The problem with that logic is there's is a hard cap in the NBA. Every team could offer the elite talent the same amount of money. What would happen teams like the Nets and Knicks overspend for above average players. The elite talent determines which city he wants to play in. Now the rosters is filled with washed up, overpaid players. If you go over the cap, the fine is crazy.
