in New Orleans I think they give kids a pack of black-n-milds and a box a bullets with school lunch

I think they should do more to limit the advertising as well.
Putting them out of eye sight is a good start though.

People haven't stopped smoking since he raised the price from $6 to $14 makes him think people are going to stop cause they can't see the pack. Just like someone else posted, they got rid of Joe Camel and the Marlboro man because in the 90's they argued "kids idolize these figures" but did that stop the next generation from smoking, no. Just because you "hide" them doesn't mean people will stop. Cigarettes are not an impulse buy, like a candy bar or magazine at the supermarket. People are not going to the store for milk, see the packs and say "oh let me try some cigs", they go to the store specifically for cigarettes. I would agree with a legislation that put graphic pics on the packs or did more to alert people of the long term dangers of smoking, but hiding the packs isn't gonna do shyt.
