Mayor Bloomberg To Decriminalize Marijuana In NYC! (DETAILS) | Global Grind

No more jail time for possession of small amounts, you will just get a disk ticket and and go to court. Damn I can't believe it. Proposed to go into effect in March of this year. FINALLY. But there is more to do. You will still be arrested for possession but hopefully if you have under the restricted amount you should just pay a fine.

fukk it. sell it pre rolled in stores in packs of 20 joints for 60 bucks a pack.

This is what's going to happen but I'm sure people will want to buy in bulk. I think the "Pre-rolled" stuff will be the the cheap stuff at 7 elevens and gas stations. The Quality sh!t will be sold by companies on the New York Stock Market. It's going to be big money. NY has made so many arrest and money on Marijuana possession. Personally they need to get to a point where the cop just gives you a ticket on the spot versus taking you in. But this is a 1st step. It's crazy in 10 years there could be a lot of states that have decriminalized, legalized or have medial marijuana. Times are really changing. I figured NY would be one of the last to do it but I guess this is the last thing Bloomberg is trying to do before he's out.

Critics have said police manipulate people into getting arrested by telling them to empty their pockets or bags, and then arresting them when they pull out marijuana that's then publicly visible. Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly has said he didn't believe many arrests were made that way, but he sent around a memo in September 2011 reminding officers they couldn't do that.

Critics hailed the Bloomberg's announcement Thursday as a good step, while saying more needed to be done.

"With this new policy change, tens of thousands of people, mostly young men of color, will no longer be held in jail overnight for possessing small amounts of marijuana. But the arrests themselves need to end — period," said Gabriel Sayegh, the New York state director for the Drug Policy Alliance, a group critical of the national war on drugs.

I think the U.S is finally realizing it's pointless to keep Marijuana illegal when Tobacco and Alcohol are legal. Court Cost, Jail Cost, Lawyer Cost. Sure it's big business and it has locked a lot of people up and made the system a lot of money. But there is no logical way with the research and science we know now that they can continue the lies on Marijuana. It treats over 100 conditions which is better than any single Big Pharma drug. It makes zero sense to keep it illegal. You limit the amount of possession.

You must be 21 or older like Alcohol to buy it. Believe it or not if your kid is going to do 1 of the 3 drugs. Marijuana is the best of the 3 easily. This will also affect the drug game. With it being legal, sure there will be be people pushing marijuana just cheaper than the stores but it won't be as bad as it was before. It could really flip the drug game on it's head. I'm not saying there won't be any negative issues. Every drug affects everyone differently. Of course there will be laws about Smoking and driving, But the fact of the matter is if someone can have a drink at a bar or smoke their cigs. Anyone should be able to some marijuana in the comfort of their own homes.

bloomberg did what?

Basically for small amounts of Marijuana you will no longer be locked up in jail but be given a desk ticket to appear in court later. I think it's up to an ounce possession. Before you could end up in jail for 36-48 hours if it was the weekend. This is just the 1st step but Bloomberg is working to decriminalize up to 10-20 grams for personal possession.

This is huge for NYC cause they make a lot of marijuana arrest. So you will still get arrested but it's looking like if you don't have that much you will pay a fine like a ticket to the city. Again he's working out more details, but it's suppose to go into affect soon. Remember Decriminalization is not legalization. But it means lesser charges for marijuana possession.
