how is Ronaldo not in the top 8
This question literally makes no sense.
George Bush was the most powerful man in this country for damn near a decade, but nobody would argue him as the most popular.

We are talking about sports not fukking politics.![]()

Which means what exactly...
In case you didn't know, popularity =/= power.
face. There is no way you can tell me Calvin Johnson is more powerful and popular than Messi.Extremely US based... only 3 soccer players (and one of them is Landon Donovan) & no F1 drivers?
If this doesn't convince you that the list is garbage, nothing will.Your logic is fukked up.
To be powerful in sports you need a brand. Just look at all the people who were powerful in their sports. They all had a brand when they were on top of their sport or they still do. Guys like Beckham, Jordan, Tiger, Kobe, etc. all are powerful and have a global brand. How is LeBron more powerful than Kobe when Kobe is more popular overseas, has more endorsement deals overseas, and clearly has the market in Europe and Asia on locked down? No other player in recent memory has been able to do that. If LeBron is more powerful and more popular than why is Nike milking Kobe in Asia and Europe instead of him?
Do you see people in Europe and Asia going crazy for LeBron? I'm not saying LeBron is not powerful... I'm just saying he is not the world's most powerful athlete.
Let's keep it real... Do you honestly think people in 2nd and 3rd world counties know who some of these people are? Ask someone who Calvin Johnson is and they will give theface. There is no way you can tell me Calvin Johnson is more powerful and popular than Messi.
