Ainge had an exit conference call today with the media. Things of note he said beyond the cliches:

- Acknowledged the bench was trash and how injuries exposed it even more
- Celtics should have beat Miami
- Kemba wasn’t healthy during the bubble, but he doesn’t think he’ll need offseason surgery
- He believes Jaylen is ready for a larger role
- They plan to draft based on need instead of taking the BPA.
- Said he wasn’t gonna overreact to losing but he thinks they “have a lot of work to do” in the offseason

The Kemba thing is most concerning though. He had basically 3 months to rest and his knee still wasn’t right?

So to recap the past few days...

Hayward is opting out and looking likely to leave, Kanter opted in, Ojeleye got his deal guaranteed, Poirier got traded and we’ve got 2 rookies coming in with Aaron Nesmith & Payton Pritchard.

So as of now, the depth chart is:

Kemba/Pritchard/Edwards
Smart/Langford/Green
Brown/Nesmith/Ojeleye
Tatum/Grant
Theis/Time Lord/Kanter

If Javonte Green’s non-guaranteed contract gets waived, we’ll have 2 open roster spots on the 15-man roster with one of them being the full MLE. That’s assuming no other trades happen.

If possible, I would love to use the MLE on a vet wing and do a Baynes/Kanter S&T

The funny thing is the Celtics can really improve themselves with subtle moves. For example, that 2018 playoffs without Kyrie. No one even realized that by having Aaron Baynes at Center and having Marcus Morris off the bench, they had a great team

2018 Celtics would have beat the 2020 Heat, EASILY

We gotta go the Nuggets route

Commit to your young duo by drafting complimentary pieces, and be patient.

Stop paying B-level stars $30 million or trading a bunch of picks for stars who weren't good enough to get it done on their former team, NONE OF WHOM ARE EVEN A GOOD TEAM FIT.

Commit to the Jays and wait your turn. That's how the NBA is.

Collins for the hawks would be a free agent in a year, I know that doesn't solve our current problems, but I'd pay him the max

Since he was considered the horford replacement that would make his career come full circle, wouldn't it?

I agree with this 100%
Priority should be surrounding the Jays with players that fit their timeline for a sustained run of being a title contender
