By the hiphop community, no really. It was just average.

That album is viewed in a much better light than BP3. The only thing that AG lacked was hit singles. BP3 had the singles, but wasn't nearly as acclaimed as AG as an album.

in my opinion the 3rd verse on thank you is one of jay best

I was gonna kill a couple rappers
But they did it to themselves
I was gon' do it with the flow
But they did it with their sales
I was gon' 9/11 'em, but they didn't need the help
And they did a good job them boys is talented as hell
Cuz not only did they brick they put a building up as well
They ran a plane into that building and when that building fell
Ran to the crash site with no masks and inhaled
Toxins deep inside their lungs until both of them was filled
Blew a cloud out like a L into a jar then took a smell
Cuz they heard that second hand smoke kills
nikkas thought they was ill found out they was...ILL
And it's like you knew exactly how I wanted you to feel
:whoa:

Jay aint never performing that song now. Too many 9/11 references

Yes, this shyt goes hard.... I ran it back yesterday. Only song I don't like on here is "Off That"

He had hits - Empire state of mind, Run the town, On to the next one

Dope album cuts- already home, thank you, Hate

A good intro...

I never understood the hate this album received, especially with the other shyt that came out around that time...

spawned a few catchphrases still used in the urban community :smugdraper:

basic bytches still post "on to the next one" and "forever young" 6 years later

and empire state of mind is canon and will be played wil we die

i count two weak tracks in my opinion the jeezy track and reminder
That track with Jeezy is dope af

And if you just tunin' in, let me explain
You know I keep that 47, Uday Hussein
These nikkas way too far, I played the game
And if you listen hard enough I say some things
And when that sack got low, I shave them things
And put 'em right back together, I made them things

felt like an instant classic the moment it dropped.

run this town - smash hit
empire state - smash hit
onto the next one - smash hit

classic production - check
classic rhymes - check (i bet if you scour the coli rite now you will see this album has been quoted hundreds of times. even kendrick paid homage on king kunta)

one of the biggest albums of 2009.

one of the biggest albums of hov's career.

it's not up there with the holy trinity of RD - BP1 - TBA but it's definitely a modern day classic in it's own right.

plus to this day i don't think cats really understand how dope that hate joint was with kanye. one of the slickest tracks he ever did.

great album.
