Bro go revisit AG. Son was spitting crazy on that whole shyt. Just cause I said it’s basically part 2 to RD doesn’t mean he’s spitting the same way. But thematically and everything. It’s his closest album to RD in his discography. This was literally the sentiment when the album came out Jay has even said it himself.

I thought 2009 was a pretty great year. It's remniscent of a certain era, and it wasn't 1999, but for a certain age of fans, it was kind of the end of those 90's/2000's times.

Jay-Z Blueprint 3
Jadakiss The Last Kiss
Clipse Til The Casket Drops
Jeezy Trappin Ain't Dead
Fab Losos Way (career high for him)
That mixtape Wayne dropped
Gotti was getting hotter around this time
Rihanna dropped Rated R, which was her album that elevated her status

None of those are perfect or classic, but good. And the last time we'd see projects like that dropping.

I didn't really fukk with Em ever, but Eminem dropped a big album that year.

It's partly just me getting nostalgic for that time in my life, but in real time, I was still burning mix cd's, my friends and I were all listening to these albums everywhere we went.

brother excuse me?

You think it's that crazy to have Vol. 1 as his best? There's maybe one questionable song out of 14. I don't think he ever was as good as he was on

The American Gangster as a RD...that sounds good and is a good selling point, but a little too far for me. it is in the spirit of Jay's hustler classics, but he couldn't get to that zone of Allure.
