It really doesn't happen all the time though, Myspace was the first of its kind so it was to be expected. Since then it's been Facebook, instagram, and twitter/X. Many have come and gone.
TikTok cannibalized Snapchat

Twitter is no longer the same app it was that made it appealing in the first place. Its only natural a migration would happen to an app that would restore that feeling

Elon ruined the trending topics which now is controlled by his ideology. Things like ferguson would only trend locally. Misinformation is king on twitter now

They said the same shyt about "Threads" and that was a complete flop

1/1
@Waivly
Threads has reached 275 million users 📈

According to Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s X rival has experienced impressive growth, rising from 200 million monthly users in August

Im with all that and I get it. I'm stating the fact that we are so divided we now need separate mainstream social media? Lol

Im not on any of it tbh and the only interaction I have with Randoms is on here but my greater point is we as Americans are idiots. We used to be able to tolerate and hear different opinions and still work with them, live next to them, etc....now we figuring out ways to NEVER interact with others that don't think like us. Total mind fukk brehs...

Nah, that's not it bruh. I get your point, who wants to live in an echo chamber. I like hearing other people's views, even if they differ to mine, to 1. Reinforce my original opinion or 2. To make me reassess. But twitter is too toxic right now with the bots, the engagement farmers, the non celebrity blue tickers, the outright racism, the list goes on. It's not a place for reasonable political discourse anymore, that ship has sailed. shyt has basically turned into st0rmfr0nt

People really don't want to deal with twitter like that. I don't really see a ceiling tbh.

As the liberal leave twitter, the right wingers will follow as they need people to harass and victimize
Idk about that. Twitter is still entrenched in everyone's mind due to longevity. The general public doesn't care about Elon/politics 24/7/365 like that. Twitter proved this past weekend it's still the premier app for general users to get on to talk about big sporting events (the Tyson/Paul fight, CFB Saturday, and NFL Sunday). Bluesky still needs to capture non political heavy users like sports fans and entertainment fans. So I still believe there's a ceiling to just capturing the chronincally online politically angry users that Bluesky is right now.

Threads is better.
That's another thing. Bluesky is battling with Threads too. And Threads has the cheatcode of basically implementing the Instagram audience. There's no way both can ascend past Twitter. Too much of the same audience and there's only so much social media people are going to do. Maybe one of these apps can eventually rival or surpass Twitter, but for one to do it, the other will have to fail.

Instagram also has the posts connected to the app as well which is also better.

Twitter just has first mover advantage. No one actually gives a shyt about Twitter. If Bluesky gets advertisers and partners, it will surpass Twittter.

You can also add Tumblr and Vine to the convo as well

There is always gonna be migration and people leaving Twitter have been a long time coming because of what it was slowly turning into before Musk
