Go look at these public school system stats among blacks not only in Baltimore, but also Cleveland, Detroit, New Orleans, Chicago, etc etc,, these kids are on a D level and lower

the school system not only failed, but 70% of the blame goes on the parents as well

One day we're going to realize throwing money at a problem doesn't resolve the underlying issues. Those teachers and education system needs an evaluation.
Bro do you know how hard it is to get a 1.0 gpa? That means you literally aren’t even showing up to class. There’s nothing the school system can do about that. They don’t have the resources to be chasing kids down everyday and dragging them to class. Now realize that over 40% of their students are a 1.0 or below…I’m so sick of you mfs making excuses we are so failed as a race it’s maddening.

Doesn’t Bmore spend a lot per student the same way that DC also does for piss poor results? Damn shame and proof that throwing more money at education to address student performance isn’t always a good solution.

gotta blame the parents for this one. If the kid is failing at school, that’s on their folks. If a kid passes at school but is not equipped for success in the next grade or college, that’s one the local education system.

School can’t fix the underlying issues of the city.

If you have a 1.0 it means you barely go to school.

You're right, the economics definitely plays a large role within this equation. I however, am not dismissing the role of the parent nor the child in this case, rather taking a look at the schools. As always in these schools, there is a precedent set from elementary school with this truant behaviour.

1200 kids are being suspended from kindergarten up to 2nd grade annually.

Whenever these threads are made, we know that people are going to get on the parents, as they should to an extent. But all parties are to blame here.

The problem with throwing the blame around is we don't get to actionable programs. I'm saying the school can be reevaluated, and in terms of early childhood measures of discipline within the school that clearly needs to change as well.

What is your actionable program for a parent that doesn't care?
