In his case I agree to an extent. If I have a son who's equally good at baseball and football I'm going to push baseball a little more.

At the same time, I'd let my kids play whatever they want because it's their life. Sports and education are the two things that children should have a say in because they don't get a chance to recreate those opportunities as an adult.

I'm not gonna tell my son he can't play football...

I'll push him towards other sports but if he becomes a teenager and wants to play on his high school squad and is good enough I'm not gonna rob him of that.

Playing High School football with my freinds are some of the best memories from my teenage years and that can't be taken away.

Do you have kids?

I think it's easy to say "it's their life" when you don't have kids yet :manny:

You hear about these players dying so early. Brains scrambled, can barely get out of bed in the morning, damn near disabled.

It's their life, but you guide them at a young age. Teach them the dangers of football and they prolly won't wanna play.

I wish I had proper baseball coaching coming up like I had with football.

That too would be my choice.

I would of resented the hell out of my parents if they banned me from football.

The ironic thing about this is my biggest injury in high school came from basketball (partial MCL tear).

I could go along with that if kids could grow up and pick up football at 18. But since they can only play as children or as adults that excelled as children, I just think it's not fair for a parent to impact their kids life like that. If it's preventing them from doing certain things that they can grow up and choose to do on their own, cool. But they don't have that option when it comes to sports. I would feel terrible to have a son that resented me because he believed he could have been a football star but I prevented that from happening.
