Yup, this. The losing probably expedited the process (especially taking those Ls to UWM and Marquette back-to-back), but it's mostly about putting his guy on. Gard's been with him like 20 years. It's not without precedent - dikk Bennett did the same thing at UW.

Ultimately, it's mostly a "fukk you" to Barry Alvarez and doing Greg Gard a solid with an audition.
