Uh....no. All of this is wrong. Vince Gilligan was talking about the show going for 4, maybe 5 seasons total back when the 2nd season was on. The only time it was almost cancelled was after season 4, because AMC had blew something like $30 mill on "Mad Men". That's also why Frank Darabont was fired from "The Walking Dead".

AMC is gonna be fukked.

How do you piss off the creators of the two most critically acclaimed shows of all time and the head of the show that gets big ratings.

Mad Men got the money because Weiner's contract was up first, he's blowing money on Beatles songs while Vince has to threaten to go to FX and Walking Dead has to limit the number of zombies they can have an episode.

Well, AMC knew they could fukk over "The Walking Dead" because they 100% own it. So the actors/writers have no leverage to negotiate their contracts. All of this was hush-hush behind the scenes until Kurt Sutter exposed it.

You're probably like :what: "Kurt Sutter, creator of Sons of Anarchy?". Yeah him. His boy Glen Mazzara, who he knew from "The Shield", was the showrunner of "TWD" after Darabont left. I'm sure you remember, they eventually fired Mazzara too. Shortly after that Sutter went in on AMC via Twitter.

Sony Television owns "Breaking Bad", so when AMC started talking that dumb shyt they threatened to go to another network. That's another reason why I said ratings weren't a factor. If AMC was content with the show ending they would've :manny: and let them leave. They didn't want to compete with "BB" on another network. Imagine the L AMC would've taken if history unfolded how it did....with "BB" being called the GOAT, pulling in 10 million viewers....but on another network after AMC let them go.

AMC has to be kicking themselves in the ass because "Mad Men" was on top of the world when they handed over that $30 mill, but hasn't won a major award since then. Nor has it's audience increased. Meanwhile "BB"....well, you know all about how that turned out.

Fred.

Unfortunately this dudes info is usually on point and HBO loves to kill off successful franchises...

I hate how all great shows on that network seemingly have to come to an end after a fantastic season...That said the boardwalk element has pretty much ran its course but they really should do a spinoff...I know spinoffs are usually wack (fully expect the BB spinoff to flop hard) but BE is not like any other show...It's main character (Nucky) is arguably one of the weakest characters on the show...They have characters who are far stronger and capable of carrying a spinoff on their own (Capone and Luciano for example)...Personally I think a spinoff focused on the rise of Luciano/Lanksy/Siegel with Capone sprinkled in could definitely do numbers...The Masseria/Maranzano new york war that they haven't even touched yet has crazy storyline potential...
