My standard outfit is a Brooks Brothers or Lacoste polo w/ jeans and boat shoes (no socks)

I don't have a black accent - I sound white - so dressing preppy is a good look for me.

I get lots of compliments too, and a fewhere and there.
I don't do above-the-knees shorts tho. Those look a bit tacky IMO, especially with long-sleeved button ups.

I only wear my boat shoes when I'm on a boat

I rock loafers, driving shoes, espadrilles and low top sneaks during the summer.

Never been a fan of the boat shoe style. Just generally dont like the design.
