Trump never made it seem serious. He literally castigated any one speaking about the seriousness of it and tried to shift blame for everything that resulted from his lack of enforcement.

At the beginning Trump banned travel to and from China and a few people called him racist for it. And in January the World Health Organization was tweeting that they didn't see human to human transmission. Then them Italy numbers hit, and the whole narrative became "Trump fukked up" , which he did, but the reality is EVERYBODY, INCLUDING THE SCIENTISTS, WERE DOWNPLAYING IT. Trump just happens to be the perfect racist idiot scape goat.

The biggest problem is if Hitler Jr Trump had got on tv talking about shutting down the borders and shutting down america because of a virus in China, American people minds would immediately go to "HOLOCAUST" and concentration camps.
