Bowden, who is now 85, coached the Seminoles for three decades, but is rarely around the program. He was responding to a leading question from Finebaum.

Bowden: (laughing) Well, I think it's a consensus among Florid State fans, and boosters that he was an embarrassment in a lot of ways to the university(emphasis mine). He won a lot of ball games, probably one of the best football players that ever attended Florida State, but he hurt himself off the field. The good news is that he's young enough to get over that, ya know it, and he's gotta do that. He just can't make those junior high school decisions that he made while he was in college.

The off the field sh!t was embarrassing, not because he did that sh!t, cause I don't think he raped that girl, but being as visible as he is/was, he made some bad decisions putting himself in those positions. All that being said, boosters, alumni, all them still gonna wave that banner, so like someone else said in the thread, Bowden should have just "no commented" and not et his words get twisted and abbreviated. If these guys aint willing to renounce the spoils, STFU and blindly support.

I don't think he's a racist..... and the thread title, while mostly accurate, makes his statements seem more inflammatory than what they were........

I got 2 friends that played for him...... They said dude was a straight up father figure and one of the most genuine people they'd ever met..... They still say they'd go to war for that old white man.....
