9th Wonder’s Bobby Womack Tribute, ‘Farewell to the Soul Man’

http://dayandadream.com/2014/06/27/...o-the-soul-man-9thwondermusic-ripbobbywomack/
The famed producer was true to his word, and indeed set free the instrumentals he’s used in the past that sampled Bobby Womack. Eleven beats deep – though it’s hard to believe 9th has ONLY sampled Bobby 11 times, given his massive catalog – Farewell to the Soul Man blends the best of both worlds: 9th’s signature ability to craft memorable melodies and Womack’s distinctive vocals.

"Everybody claims that they want the best things outta life
But not everyone, not everyone
Wanna got through the toils and strifes"

when i first heard Across 110th Street on the game True Crime: New York... man, the song hit me like a ton of bricks.

he just had a distinctive and great voice.
like Gil Scott Heron, when you hear their voice you knew they've went through some things.

he had some joints on his last album.

song is beautiful.
