Yeah. I don't want to hate on them because they over-fukking-achieved and came from my neck of the woods, but man, the quality of their show and pod fell the moment they left Vice. I'm glad they made their money, but I can't remember the last time I tuned into the Showtime show or their pod. All I can remember watching were horrendous skits and terrible interviews. But, like I said, these nikkas interviewed Obama and shyt. Mero was a para-teacher like eight years ago and Desus was tweeting about sniffing chairs and shyt. Crazy come-up.
Salute to them both. I don't think either of them are funny enough to go on their own, but they did get way further than I thought they would, so shyt can happen.

They weren't going to make that on Vice. While, I agree that the Vice of all people handled them properly, let them get viral and gave them a clearer lane to work, they hit their ceiling. They were never going to get higher than they were there because they peaked on that channel. shyt, Vice lost more by letting them go the way they did. Really, a lot of their problems on Showtime were when it became more interview-driven (I like them, but they're terrible interviews, they had Bill fukking Burr who usually makes shyt entertaining and he couldn't do it with them), a live audience (covid shows were probably the best ones they had) and the introduction of skits. I also think that have a majority white/ intersectionality (blavity) staff of writers just killd what they did. They pretty much became the token hood guys, who danced around for politicians and shyt. It sucks, but they still had to go to Showtime. Oddly enough, there best bet was maybe getting ads for the Pod and getting a Spotify deal or something. That would've been the best outcome for both parties.
