This terror organization does not get enough attention and criticism from the U.S.

They are arguably the worst (all terror organizations are bad) and most dangerous, and they use children more than any other terror organization. For a group to kidnap school girls, that is just demonic.

I don't disagree, but more attention/criticism from the U.S. isn't likely to help. Remember, their entire M.O. is "the West is evil", so the more it looks like the West is giving them attention or helping their opposition, the more resolve they're likely to gain.

Not that I'm against the U.S. assisting Nigerian efforts to prevent the group's violence and address the root issues causing it...but that will have to be real quiet, behind-the-scenes shyt or it's just as likely to make it worse.

Boko Haram is fukking horrific. And their horror IS based partly on their ideology, which is ridiculous and disturbing. But if you just use them as a prop in your personal little crusade, you won't do she to stop them. Your white ass saying "islam :scusthov:" ain't going to make no Nigerian give up the faith they were born into, and if they did, then they were unlikely to have been the type to join Boko Haram in the first place. You have to address the real issues that led Boko Haram to exist in the first place - dysfunction and corruption in the Nigerian government, an increasingly raw materials-based economy that enriches the rich and powerful while screwing over regular people, growing distance between the rich and the poor and feelings of betrayal and powerlessness, ecological disasters increasing distress and dysfunction in impoverished regions, regional conflicts between states fighting for power that then use religious identity as a refuge to cement their support and give power to their claims, the colonial mindset that led Western education to get attached to the idea of Christianity, and thus be seen as a "southern Nigerian" phenomenon that should be rejected by the Muslim north, a brutal military response with extrajudicial killings that ramped up the anger and violence, and so on.

You have to know what's actually going on before you can even begin to address it. The constant political spin on every news event makes you sound like Trump.
