the internet
The south burbs are full of nikkas. I mean FULL of nikkas. FULL of blacks and have been for YEARS.
yea, he kind of got his facts wrong when he was talking about Chicago.

There were still a lot of white people on the south side...and the south suburbs always had black suburbs.

He probably brought Chicago up because there was a piece done recently on NPR about Beverly and how it stayed a mixed neighborhood because the community decided they werent going to leave when black folks came.

I went to a Chicago Public High school...the school had no problems w/ violence because we didnt act like idiots.

got into it with a white dude at work about this... he's one of those "Oh, so i guess ONLY white people can be racist?!" types and i had to explain to him how deep that housing shyt really was... my father and uncles started a business in the city they both grew up in which has become a pretty impoverished area (relatively speaking to be fair). Part of the business was a nice cafe that they eventually wanted kids in the neighborhood to use to do homework after school, bring tutors in etc. When they opened, my uncle told me that he would literally see kids walk by, stare and never go in. when he went after them and invited them in they initially declined and started asking whether they should take their shoes off and some said that they didn't think a place like that was for them. He legit had tears in his eyes when he told me.

Dude is low key one of the brightest young voices in sports, and i would argue that he is underserved in that medium. I appreciate that he took the time to shed light into what is a deeper issue in that showed itself in sports but reaches so much further and how he connected Sterling to the institutionalized racism that is the real enemy of success in this country.
