Damn I'm late. The fact that the PS3 launched a year after the 360 at nearly double the price and came out on top at the end should tell you who won. Even if the numbers aren't accurate or within say 1M its very impressive. Also anyone trying to debate that the PS3 wasn't more powerful loses all credibility. Early on 360 had the edge in multiplats because it used DX which has been around over a decade and SONY developed a highly specialized PowerPC architechture. It was a huge gamble, that and the BluRay player made the system extremely expensive. But in the end games looked better and BluRay is the HD optical standard (Remember
this) And lets not act like there wasn't a significant amount of 360 owners that have went throught multiple boxes. Yea they offered the coffins eventually, but that was long after the failure rate was near 40%. So basically if you and your boy got a box to play together, welp, one of ya'll nikkas goin down.
Now as far as games go, sure PS3 started off slow but gained momentum and finished up very strong. If we're going to talk about exclusives we had Uncharted Series, MGS4, LBP Series, TLOU, MLB The Show, Ratchet/Clank, Infamous, Killzone Series, Resistance Series, GoW, Heavy Rain, Gran Turismo. This is what I can name off the top of my head, thats over 20 right there. Now I can already hear people saying, oh who plays Ratchet or LBP, so and so game wasn't that great. Well that was the greatness of the triple it wasn't just a bunch of shooters, the variety is what made the catalog so great.
On to this generation, ok some may say the PS4 doesn't have such a strong lineup. I suppose you could make the argument because the best exclusive is Killzone. I finally took a look at the XB1 launch lineup and honestly isn't very impressive to me. The main exclusives are Ryse, Forza and Dead Rising. Of the three Forza is the only one that looks very good. Dead Rising I do like the concept, but the those struggle frames? I'll pass, and I've said before Ryse looks like it would get a little stale, we'll see. The only game I'm interested in, which isn't out yet is TitanFall (surprise another shooter). The multiplat games, BF COD Madden 2K, which people seem to forget are also available will be more than enough to hold the average gamer down till next spring when more exclusives drop.
