You might like Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention by Manning Marable - Pulitzer Prize winner

Nah, he got that Pulitzer prize for a reason...

Dude completely misrepresented Malcolm X to the point where even his own ppl couldn't recognize him. Book caused a great deal of uproar when it came out, with cacs endorsing it for basically presenting Malcolm as someone who was conflicted and dabbled in homosexuality etc, based on weak sources, fabrications by his enemies etc..

I'm not religious bro but I do read it every now and then to prove a point.

I read to gain knowledge and to educate. I have younger siblings that need a role model. My daddy ain't shyt so I have to do it. As far as improvement in certain areas, I guess the only areas would be history and maybe learning Spanish. I need to get some self help and money management books.

Recommend whatever bro, anything but non fiction. I'm open for whatever. Pause.

Honestly bro, I would recommend finding what your interest is in terms of something that is a skill and then read books based on that. I spent a large amount of time reading 'self-help' books and occasionally you'll find something interesting here and there, but most of them won't get you anywhere. What WILL get you somewhere is tailored reading that helps advance a skill. For me, I've been reading a ton of programming books and watching videos because that's the field I'm in and they've helped a lot in improving my skillset. At the end of the day, you have to have a skillset that employers will find valuable or you have to be able to create a product to sell and get your entrepreneurial thing on.

Wisdom is more important than knowledge. I will never, ever read again without a purpose. :wow:

By the way, speaking of Programming I'm about to pick up:

I will show some of the "starter-pack" books that I read before beginning my journey.

I'd start from the bottom left ending at the top right. Some books like "Road to Reality" may be difficult to read so skip it (if you know tensors, then read it; or you can read it glossing over the math. It is my favorite book) although it's good. All of these books are nonfiction.

Also if you want a complete list of books that I believe every man should read, I don't mind listing them (I won't be grabbing them from the bookshelf though).

Well shyt since I'm going to school for nursing I guess I could dabble in some books on that.

I was going to get a few books on web development but decided not to. Reconsidering now.

That gene cloning and life in space seem interesting.

Forgot to mention a classic:

"Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain"

51nqiiq8QdL._SX401_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg

Got through a little bit of it back in 2013, and then stopped because I couldn't focus with my life in flux. Now that I've settled things down a bit, and I'm going into the tech field (design), I'm going to pick this one back up too and learn drawing with programming and math. :smugdraper:

EDIT: Plus, I've always wanted to draw comics too, so this will help me get my start.

Above the fray.
The History of Money was a steal ($6) couldn't pass that up. Where did you buy your Aficana? In store? Online?

I'm trying to hold off on those huge books. Really want to read through them thoroughly. I have Grey's anatomy, an anatomy book. And I can't keep up with it bro. Not enough time for it. A book like that I have to take notes while reading.

Good looks tho.
You're welcome.
Since all those bookstores closed down.......buying books online is super cheap...
Books qualify to be shipped at media mail prices so even heavy books like the AE cost very little to purchase or to ship.

Here's my recommendation list for non reference books

They are definitely good books. Life in Space goes over basic planetary science, biology, chemistry, and physics before delving into some hypothetical ideas.

Existentialism is Humanism
The Concept of Anxiety
How Do We Know?
Precolonial Africa
Black Critics and Kings
The King Within

Strategy (Business and Life)
The 36 Strategems
The Book of 5 Rings
The Art of Strategy
Your Strategy Needs a Strategy
Competitive Strategy

Strategy (Historical)
Attacks
The Art of Command
On War
China's Military Power

The whole read physical books to gain knowledge narrative is dumb. People act like it's the only way you can get knowledge. I can watch a YouTube video about a topic and can easily be informed as well... you all act like 4 + 4 = 9.. just because it's on the Internet or YouTube... But the same 4 + 4 =8 because its written on a paperback. This is the age of information and a lot of it's not going to come from books...

Not a personal shot at you, but this is one of the silliest notions that I keep seeing on forums.
ANYBODY can post a video.
Books have references, bibliography, footnotes. You can look up the information cited in the book.

Please don't post such nonsense again.
